F A Film's "Hathyar" addresses itself to the problem of today's fond parents who express their love for their children through mechanized toys like pistols, gun, rifles, sten guns, machine guns, etc. - all symbols of violence and destruction. Little Avi is also was given a toy by his uncle, none of them knowing that it was a portent of things to come.

Avi's sojourn started when his peace loving father was dubbed a coward and had to leave his ancestral village where family feuds and rivalries made it 'survival of the strongest'.

Thakur Sahib came to the city along with his wife and son Avi, in quest of civilized society, but only to find that here in the city it was the 'survival of the meanest'.

Avi graduated in the city life with a starving widowed mother staring him in eyes. That was enough to make him take the path of least resistance-the crime alley.

Of his 'Chawl' neighbour 'Pakia' introduced him to the pick pocket club, he himself found bigger fields and greener pastures, till he committed the unforgiveable crime of killing a police officer.

That brought him in the bigger league where crime lords like Khushal Khan and Rajananna played the game.

Kaushal Khan, once a guard at a city Bank was sucked in by the crime world only to become its ruler.

But he had to pay a fabulous price for it-alienation of the affections of Sammi, his younger brother-the person he loved the most.

Sammi was sweet amiable Pathan with a song in his heart and soulful music in his "Rabab - the musical instrument that he played for a living.

Sammi's beautiful wife, Jenny, an aspiring play back singer looked to Avi for help when she found that neither her husband nor the mighty Khushal Khan would help her aspirations. Avi would help her but would want unmentionable favours in return.

Would Sammi's marital bliss be shattered? Not if Khushal Khan could help it. He would come down like scourage on anyone trying to wreck his brother's happiness.

Now Avi would learn the rules of the game by being kicked like a football from Khan to Anna and back- two of the top rivals at play.

Avi would not take it for long kidnapping of Sammi's child put a halt to the game but only to raise it to greater guilty the weapon of the hand that weilds the weapon?
